DINA: Film Advocating for Girl Child Protection Premiers in Lagos

DINA, a compelling movie that highlights the urgent need for adolescent girl child protection from sexual violence and societal exploitation premieres in Lagos.

Written and produced by Wilson Ukhurebor and directed by South African cinematographer MG Legend, DINA is more than just a film—it is a rallying cry for collective action against the threats young girls face.

With the theme: “What Society Does to Us,” the movie amplifies the need for stronger protective structures, policies, and community interventions to safeguard girls from harm.

A Timely Call for Girl Child Protection

At a time when gender-based violence and child exploitation remain pressing concerns, DINA serves as an eye-opener, urging stakeholders—from parents to policymakers—to prioritize the safety and well-being of young girls

Supported by the The International Child Safety Report Initiative and endorsed by the Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development, the film aligns with global efforts to create safer spaces for the girl child.

Film Screenings and Awareness Drive

To ensure widespread engagement, the movie will be screened across key locations:

Private Screening for Journalists & media only on the Friday, 21st of March 21, 2025 and at Ikotun, and a Public Screening for organized school students & key stakeholders, on April 10, 2025 at Pefti Film Institute,

Beyond these special screenings, DINA will be showcased in 10 cinemas across Lagos State, ensuring more students, educators, and policymakers engage with its critical message.
